When you join The George Institute on a PhD Scholarship you are becoming part of our thriving and exciting global institute at the forefront of medical research, where what you do matters. This is an opportunity to make a positive impact of the health of millions of people globally. We are currently offering up to 3 years postgraduate scholarship, which is available for a suitably qualified student to undertake research studies as part of their PhD degree. The scholarship is only available to full time students.



It is a requirement that the proposed projects fit within the broad sphere of study of the Institute's current National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Program Grant. The research done within this program will provide evidence about new methods of cardiovascular, neurological and renal disease risk assessment, prevention and treatment that will be relevant for millions of Australian patients and tens of millions worldwide. Positive results from this clinical research are expected to bring about rapid changes in clinical guidelines, public health initiatives and health service delivery. The scholarship is for a period of up to 3 years, but may be extended following satisfactory progress and/or funding availability.


Eligibility:


  • Applicants should be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
  • Applicants should have a Master's degree in Public Health or Medicine
  • Enrolled, or willing to enrol in a PhD at the University of New South Wales


Amount awarded:



The scholarship is valued at $40,000 per annum, (inclusive of allowances).
